Browsing the work of Middle and Upper School students on display at Norra Latin this month, the variety of styles and themes was striking. So too was the contrast of intensity and light-hearted fun that came through in the works.
Explorations of the inner and outer self sat alongside moody photographic portraiture. Social commentary was juxtaposed with the witty visual trickery of perspective. Dynamic cartoon story strips contrasted with quiet appreciative studies of nature. The variety provided – to use a cliché entirely devoid of the originality the students were showing – something for everyone.
Exhibitions like this speak to the talents of our students, and to how their learning encourages a critical faculty for viewing the world around them, an emotional capacity, and the ability to express their thoughts and opinions about the society they live in.
You can view a selection of the exhibits in our picture gallery.
