As the first significant snow of the year heightened our awareness of winter and the short, dark days, Primary School students celebrated hope and light in an assembly that raised the spirits.
Students had been reflecting on how light features in so many different cultural celebrations around the world: Diwali, Hanukkah, St Lucia, Eid al-Fitr, Chinese New Year and more.
A display created by the students shone out in the dimmed lights of the Johannesgatan gym. It shared thoughts on their cultural festivals and traditions, and the role that light plays in them. Members of staff and students created a video, sharing how light and hope shine through celebrations that are special to them.
Some students dressed for the day, catching the eye in sparkling sequins – and proving the message that even in dark times, we can all shine bright.
