The 75th Anniversary year at SIS has got off to a wonderful start. From the moment our Welcome Day events began, there was a palpable sense of optimism, excitement and friendship as new families arrived on campus and students began getting to know their new school.
There was plenty for parents and guardians to discover too. Families explored the wide range of after-school activities on offer, learned more about learning support and language options, and found out about the many ways SIS supports students both inside and beyond the classroom. Most importantly, there was time to meet new people, make connections and begin to feel at home in the SIS community. The SIS Parent Community had a busy time explaining the many ways that new parents could join them in supporting the School.
The following day, more than 800 students returned to campus for the first full day of the new academic year. And while there was certainly some serious business to attend to, there was also plenty of fun.
At SIS, we take learning seriously. We set high standards and encourage every student to give their very best. But we also know that some of the most memorable learning happens through exploration, collaboration and the pursuit of individual passions. Sport, music, art, literature, coding, robotics, science and countless other interests all play an important part in creating a rich and balanced school experience.
As the year unfolds, we look forward to celebrating the achievements that emerge from all these different areas: sporting successes, scientific discoveries, creative breakthroughs, performances, competitions and perhaps a few unexpected talents along the way.
Every new school year brings its own sense of anticipation. But as SIS begins its 75th year, there is an extra sense of occasion. A new chapter has begun, and we cannot wait to see what our students make of it.
