Competitive elements

Just the second week of term and our students got their first proper taste of House rivalry as Earth, Fire, Air, and Water went head-to-head in a whirlwind of games, challenges, and activities designed to test brains, bodies, and teamwork. And yes, even our Kindergarteners were getting stuck in and earning those all-important points!

Plenty of competitive spirit was on display, but perhaps even better was the cheering, encouragement, and collaboration among students. Because at SIS, the House system is about much more than bragging rights (although those are definitely up for grabs!).

All students and staff belong to a House, bringing together different grades and creating opportunities to make new friends, work together and take part in everything from sporting challenges to educational and mental contests. The large gatherings of our secondary students were buzzing with new friendships developing and connections being made across the years. (Our Director, by the way. wisely maintains strict neutrality, and belongs to all four Houses!)

The House scoreboard will keep ticking throughout the year, with points awarded for participation, enthusiasm and achievement. By the end of the year, one Primary House and one Secondary House will be crowned champions.

So expect the rivalry to get fiercer, the points to pile up, and the celebrations to get louder. But whatever your House, there’s one thing we can all agree on: this is going to be fun!

STOP PRESS: Just as The Dispatch is about to be broadcast, we have received the Primary School results from the activity day. Earth House has begun the year by storming into the lead. The final points earned were: Earth – 437 points, Fire – 357 points, Water – 352 points, Air – 230 points. The results from secondary school activities will be revealed next week!
