Thanks to an award from the SIS Spirit Fund, Swedish Reading Ambassador (Läsambassadör) Agnes Török made a return visit to SIS. Agnes met with grade 6 students and spoke about live literature - the connection between written works and oral storytelling traditions. Agnes' also ran a workshop with the students to develop their learning and self-expression.
Inspired by having a published poet advise them, the students all created free verse and spoken word poetry and were engaged and excited to learn. Agnes proved an excellent presenter and adept at drawing a response from the group. Unfortunately, we can't share any poems because the point of the day was for them to express themselves without the pressure of teachers or peers seeing. However, it was a valuable and much-appreciated return visit, which once again proved inspiring for our students.
