Sporting victories for SIS

SIS teams scored victories in the Nordic Sports League and Stockholm International League Badminton Tournament

SIS’s sports teams compete regularly throughout the year in both local and international leagues, and February brought some truly exciting moments for our athletes.

Our junior basketball teams braved a very cold Helsinki, while our senior teams took on the windy (and chilly!) Copenhagen in the Nordic Sports League. All teams performed wonderfully, but a special shout-out goes to one of our junior boys’ teams. In Helsinki, SIS chose to send two equal-strength junior boys’ teams rather than stacking one team to increase our chances of winning, because building strong bonds between players was our priority. And it paid off! Their teamwork, energy, and spirit were outstanding. Our junior girls’ team finished third, showing impressive grit and determination throughout the tournament.

In Copenhagen, eight teams competed, and one of our senior teams made it all the way to the final. With only seven players, their energy eventually ran out, and they narrowly lost against Stavanger. One of the most memorable moments was their thrilling semifinal win against Copenhagen in front of hundreds of cheering home fans! Our other boys’ teams also gave it their all, including a fantastic win over Helsinki. Our girls’ teams, made up entirely of Grade 9 players and competing against older students up to Grade 12, fought bravely in every match and showed great resilience.

February also brought badminton success at the annual Stockholm International League Badminton Tournament. It was a day filled with great games, high energy, and an even stronger sense of team spirit. Our SIS senior team played superb badminton throughout the tournament and proudly brought the 1st place trophy back to Norra Latin.

Well done to all our players for your effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship. You truly represented SIS in the best possible way, and we are very proud of you.
