SIS student, Kenneth Kong achieved an outstanding result by winning the Cadets Men’s Sabre Bronze medal in the 2026 Junior and Cadet fencing world championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As well as a tremendous personal achievement, this is also an historic milestone for Sweden’s men’s sabre, marking one of its first medals at this level of international competition.

Though he lost in the semi-final to the eventual gold medallist, Aiden Tse, his podium finish marked Sweden's first medal at these World Championships since Åsa Linde won a bronze in the épée event in 2014.

Kenneth's success is the result of dedication and application, while juggling the demands of his academic responsibilities. The enthusiastic support of staff – and of course his parents – has been a key element in allowing Kenneth to pursue his sporting passion.
