A great Swedish tradition

Parents turned out in large numbers on a chilly morning, to watch their children celebrate Lucia

First thing in the morning, on the feast of Lucia, our youngest students gathered in the shadow of the Johannesgatan campus to fill the air with light and music to celebrate one of Sweden’s most beloved traditions. Dressed in an imaginative mix of white gowns, Santa outfits, and practical protection on a chilly morning, they sang classic Lucia songs – and some not so classic – with so much heart that it was impossible not to smile.

It was a delightful reminder of how Swedish traditions permeate our life at SIS, and make us so happy to be part of this beautiful city. Seeing the children lead the way with their voices and bright spirits set a wonderful tone to start the day.
