SIS was visited by a Peace Choir from Columbia on September 9. Los hijos y las hijas de la paz performed in front of 9th Grade arts students. The choir comprised 10 girls (ages 6 to 10), and was formed after the peace negotiation ended in Colombia. The members are children of ex-military and ex-guerilla parents who were on opposite sides of the conflict. They came together to bring peace and unity.
Director, Marisa León greeted them enthusiastically saying “This has been a great opportunity for our students to learn what can come out of conflict and for these girls to learn about being with other young people from multiple nationalities.”
You can catch a glimpse of their performance here.
