Stockholm International School (SIS) welcomed middle school leaders from across Europe on October 16–17, hosting the annual ELMLE (European League for Middle Level Education) Leadership Retreat. The event brought together current and aspiring leaders from cities including Malta, Tirana, Paris, Frankfurt, Barcelona, Basel, and Milan, reinforcing SIS's role as a meeting place for educators committed to strengthening international education.
The retreat offered a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas, build professional relationships and explore new approaches to educational leadership. A highlight was a series of sessions led by Jim Ellis, a longstanding ELMLE collaborator with extensive experience working with international schools. Drawing on his new book, Educators as Designers, the sessions encouraged participants to consider fresh perspectives on teaching, learning, and leadership. Every attendee received a copy of the book.
SIS also ensured that visitors experienced something of their host city. Mrs Maroko led a walking tour of Stockholm, giving colleagues a warm introduction to the capital beyond the school walls.
The successful event reflected SIS's commitment to professional collaboration and the wider international education community, while providing a welcoming setting for school leaders to learn from one another and strengthen connections across Europe.
