Chess has become phenomenally popular in SIS

Chess at SIS received a major boost when an award was made to allow the purchase of new boards, playing pieces, and timing clocks. For some years, chess had become a niche activity despite the School's successes some years ago. The new equipment and an energetic recruitment campaign saw more than 10% of our students quickly drawn to the attractions and intellectual challenges of the game. SIS now boasts a range of representative teams taking part in local and national tournaments.
