Stepping up fundraising for Nepal

This Saturday, 12 September, SIS students and staff will be putting their best foot forward for Nepal! They'll be pacing the grounds of Humlegården between 10:00 and 13:00.

Our Nepal Project supports our partnership with a school in Nepal, helping to provide resources and opportunities while giving SIS students the chance to experience a different society and way of life first-hand.

And there’s a special reason we’re walking. For some students at our partner school, getting to class means a two-hour walk each way. This weekend, every step we take is a small reminder of the very different journeys children around the world make in pursuit of an education.

You can help by sponsoring one of our walkers. Come and support them, and buy some of the offerings they will have on display. You can gobble up a tasty treat from the bake sale stall. Or purchase items made from upcycled fabric, made by the Nepali community we support.

The women of the village of Shiladevi, where our partner school is located, have taken out micro-funding from the government to set up the Astitwa association and turn textile waste into new products, focusing on sustainable fashion and upcycling practices while also helping
preserve traditional sewing and crafting skills. And importantly, they also provide independent income for the women of rural Nepal, further education and prospect.
