An enthusiastic throng of revellers paraded their party couture, burnished their bijouterie, and channelled their charitable spirit at the 2025 SIS Gala this weekend (April 26).
As a result, the SIS Spirit Fund – our annual fund designed to benefit our students' learning and experience – gained no less than 339 000 SEK.
A live auction on the night, with a parallel ‘silent’ auction running online, tempted generous bids from our community. A generously gifted sculpture by artist, and SIS parent, Patrik Graham - Dropped Head Number 62 - proved to be the star of the evening. It achieved a winning bid of 40 000 SEK. Keeping our diplomatic hospitality tradition going was the invitation to tea with the Turkish ambassador at his residence which raised a refreshing 12 000 SEK. With a Nepalese singing bowl proving so popular last year, we had high hopes for this year’s lot brought back especially from the students’ recent trip to Nepal – it raised no less than 22 000 SEK.
Another standout experience on offer was the opportunity to play chess with Anna Cramling, a Woman FIDE Master, who has represented Sweden in the 2016 and 2022 Chess Olympiads as well as two European Team Chess Championships. This surprise late entry to the list was knocked down for 13 000 SEK by auctioneer Pontus Silfverstolpe.
Coupled with other experiences, artwork, travel offers, and raffle sales on the night, the total raised shows once again the commitment of our community to our students and our school, and the desire to open up as many possibilities for them as possible.
In the words of one parent who commented previously: ‘I love to see the power of community working together to give our kids more’. If you, too, would like to support our students, you can donate to the SIS Spirit Fund at any time.
