Recently, four talented students from Grades 7 and 8 proudly represented SIS at a unique chess competition in Stockholm. In this inspiring event, our students were paired with business professionals from across the city, demonstrating not only their strategic thinking but also their ability to collaborate with leaders from various industries.
Olive (Grade 7), who was teamed with a representative from Sveriges Schackförbund, reached the semi-finals and secured an impressive third place. Meanwhile, Heike (Grade 7) partnered with a member from Författare Brodin and advanced to the final, ultimately finishing second out of 20 competing teams – a remarkable achievement!
Beyond the competition itself, students benefited from visiting the Cederquist Law Firm in Gamla Stan, mingling with business leaders, and meeting some of Sweden’s strongest young chess players, including a 16-year-old Candidate Master and winner of the Skol Swedish Masters.
This event was a fine example of SIS's commitment to empowering every learner and showcasing how our students thrive through innovative learning experiences. Our students' confidence and resilience during competition embodied our vision to create critical thinkers and future global change-makers.
