Some of SIS's best number wizards will shortly be taking part in an intensive 5-hour challenge as part of the Skolornas Matematiktävling competition. Secluded in a room without calculators, formulae references, or other aids, the students will have only a ruler, pencils, A4 paper, and their own brain power to call upon. Six Grade 10 students and one from Grade twelve will take part in this onerous test of mathematical skill. Astric, Kevin, Khushi, Jeemin, Yihan, Pablo, and Yebum will no doubt all rise to the challenge.
For the Grade 12 student though, this will not be entirely unknown territory. Yebum Choi is well-acquainted with maths competitions, and we reported on his successes last March. Yebum (pictured above) has achieved another measure of success since then – he has been selected as one of only five students to represent Sweden in the upcoming Baltic Way math competition in November. 'Thank you so much for the amazing teaching and support for the last three years in SIS' says Yebum, acknowledging the support and encouragement he has had.
Rest assured, The Dispatch will be sure to report on how he gets on, and we wish him every success in his preparation and participation.
