Creativity. Activity. Service. CAS is one of the three core components of the IB Diploma Programme — allowing students to learn beyond the classroom and put their ideas, energy, and values into action. Students devise their own projects in consultation with their CAS advisors, choosing activities that fit within the three strands of CAS:

  • Creativity — from music and the arts to coding, design, and creative problem-solving.
  • Activity — sport, hiking, and other physical pursuits that support balance and wellbeing.
  • Service — volunteering and community action that create a positive impact while helping students learn about themselves and others.

Every year shows a wide and imaginative range of choices. This year saw a range of challenges, from long-distance running to repairing laptops, and from sewing to drumming. Alongside this, our students' compassionate, global outlook shone through in the Nepal Project and other social impact projects.

Over the two years of the Diploma Programme, students take part in these CAS experiences, complete a collaborative project and reflect on what they have learned. Students develop and demonstrate seven learning outcomes — including initiative, collaboration, perseverance, and an awareness of their impact on the world around them.

Because an IB education is about more than what you know, it’s also about what you create, how you contribute, and who you become.
