Class 4V recently spent time researching body systems. But it was more than just a fact finding exercise, the students went on to create a model and to record their findings in an ebook.
The students worked in pairs, sharing the tasks involved and deciding how to present what they discovered and what they wanted to share. Their research was followed by model-making. After that, the students started to prepare a presentation to their peers to be delivered the following week.
The class was a marvellous illustration of how a single task can also foster collaborative and practical skills, alongside science and literacy – the kind of learning that encourages independent learning and problem solving among students.
