When Vanadna Sehgal isn't in the classroom, you may well find her creating an amazing story series called Brando Tells Dory. It’s a reminder for children to listen to their feelings, respect themselves, and understand others. Through the heartwarming friendship between Brando and Dory, children learn that courage and kindness go hand in hand, and that asking for help is a sign of strength.

The two titles in this meaningful series are: Stand Up for Yourself and Everyone Is Unique.

Stand Up for Yourself was inspired by an incident at a school. A cheerful child in the class slowly became quiet and withdrawn because some classmates were loud and bullied him. This story helps children understand that they can use their voice to express themselves and stand up for their feelings, without needing to raise it.

Everyone Is Unique grew from a conversation with a seven-year-old girl who often made choices based on what her friends liked. She asked others for their opinions – What will you choose? – was her regular question. She struggled to realise that her own preferences could be different and that being different is ‘okay'. This story encourages children to embrace themselves and understand that everyone has their own unique voice.
