A new direction

The search for the next Director of Stockholm International School entered its final stage in September, when the two shortlisted candidates, Dr Christopher Schuster and Dr Paul Wood, visited SIS for two busy days of interviews, meetings, and conversations.

Dr Schuster is a US educator currently working in Europe, while Dr Wood is an international school leader with experience spanning both the private and public sectors. During their visits, both candidates met with representatives of teachers and other staff, the SIS Parent Community, and students, giving them an opportunity to hear first-hand about life at SIS.

They also toured both campuses, taking in the learning environments, facilities and, of course, the distinctly central-Stockholm setting that is part of the SIS experience.

Each candidate also had the opportunity to introduce themselves to the wider community during an evening presentation. They shared their professional backgrounds and perspectives on education before taking questions from community members. The formal proceedings were followed by a more relaxed opportunity for conversation, with both candidates and their spouses mingling with members of the SIS community.

The Board is now in the final stages of the selection process. As the school looks ahead to its next chapter, the community will hear more about the appointment in the near future, with a fuller introduction to the successful candidate to follow in the next Dispatch.
