A unique talent

Vandana Sehgal's second children’s book, Everyone is Unique has been launched in the Brando Tells Dory series. Her irst book in the series, Stand Up for Yourself, was published last year.

The idea for Everyone is Unique began in the classroom, during a simple yet insightful discussion with kids. Vandana noticed that some children struggled to understand how they could be different from others, yet the same in many ways. She recalls:

'As I spent more time with them, I realised that one of the simplest ways for children to understand uniqueness is through their everyday choices. Each child has their own likes and dislikes. One may love painting, while another may enjoy building. One may prefer quiet moments, while another thrives in a group. Some like certain colours, games, or ways of learning. These everyday preferences are where uniqueness begins.'

At the same time, she recognised every child shares something important. We all have feelings, we all want to be understood, and we all deserve respect. This is where we are the same. This balance became the heart of the book.

'Everyone is Unique was created to make this idea simple and relatable for children.' says Vandana, 'To help children explore this complex idea, I included a drawing exercise in my book which inspired me to create a bookmark booklet, where children can draw their own unique bookmarks.'

She has gone a step further with the festive season in mind, IShe has developed The Curiosity Gift Box, which includes her two children’s books, a bookmark booklet, a colouring set, and a tote bag – a thoughtful gift for young readers.

Both the books are available through bokus.com or contact Vandana directly for the books and The Curiosity Gift Box.
