SPC appreciates SIS teachers and staff

Our parent community is keen to show appreciation and acknowledge the efforts of the whole team at SIS

Thanking the SIS Teachers and Staff is important to all of us in the SIS Parent Community! We know that traditions are different at every school when it comes to gift giving, so we wanted to overview how we’ve set it up for our SIS Parent Community.

Last year, the SPC organised a new Teacher & Staff Appreciation Programme to help make it easier for the community to organise gifts and know that the entire SIS Team was acknowledged during the busy holiday and end-of-year celebrations. This year, with your support, we will be continuing the programme and improving it!

How it works
The SPC Board collects funds directly from each SIS Family - rather than going through individual Grade or Class Parent Representatives - in order to simplify administration, help us track payments and ensure tax compliance. The amount collected will then be used to appreciate the teachers and staff of the entire school!

What your contribution will cover

Everyone at SIS will be appreciated through this programme! End of term gifts will be given to all teachers (classroom, assistants, advisors, academic, speciality, sport, arts, music, etc.) - along with administrators, nurses, lunchroom staff, security and all the others that make your student’s experience at SIS so special, safe and run smoothly.

Additionally, this year we have expanded the programme beyond the gifts - making the staff’s whole year feel special!

Already the SPC Board, as part of this Appreciation Programme, has organised several surprises for the staff on behalf of the parent community including: Extra smoothie treats for ‘World Teacher’s Day’ celebrated on Oct. 3rd (along with an amazing home baked spread by parent volunteers), special ‘healthy energy snacks’ during the Faculty Professional Development day on Oct 13th, and of course Halloween Sweets on Oct. 22nd during Spirit Week!

Here’s a breakdown of what your contribution will cover:

  • A holiday gift before winter break for ALL
  • A year-end gift before summer break for ALL
  • Support of SIS appreciation events during the year - Holiday/End-of-Year Celebrations. (ex. At the SIS End-of-Year Staff lunch last year, we provided live music and centrepieces - which some took home - to bring a little extra fun to their party!)
  • Surprise coffee/snacks and experiences throughout the year at both campuses in teacher & staff lounges

We will continue letting the community know what gifts are given and activities supported throughout the year on Instagram and in our Sunday Posts on Classlist!

We on the SPC Board are happy to organize and administrate this program, but rest assured that everything provided will be given from the generous contributions of ALL the parents in the SIS Parent Community (SPC)!

Thank you to all who have already supported the program this year. There is still time to join in and support this initiative to make it an amazing year for all our SIS Teachers & Staff!
